Bath County Injury Collision with Felony Arrest

(Morehead, KY) - On Friday April 15, 2016 at approximately 1012 p.m., Kentucky State Police in Morehead was contacted by Bath County Dispatch in reference to a two vehicle injury collision at the 127 mile marker on Interstate 64 eastbound. Lacy Blevins, 26, of Morehead, KY was operating of a 2015 Camry with one passenger, Morgan Smith, 32, of Morehead, KY. Ms. Smith was traveling eastbound when her vehicle struck a 2002 Ford Windstar van operated by Kimberly Gallagher, 32, of Morehead, KY. Gallagher was transporting two juveniles. The front end of Blevins vehicle made contact with the rear end of Gallagher's vehicle which caused Gallagher's vehicle to travel off the roadway and into a rock embankment located on the right shoulder of the roadway. Gallagher's vehicle then overturned on the eastbound shoulder of the roadway. Bath County EMS transported both juveniles to St. Claire Medical Center in Morehead where they received medical treatment for minor injuries. Rowan County EMS transported both Blevins and Smith to St. Claire Regional Medical Center for treatment of their injuries. Smith was later transported to UK Medical Center for treatment of her injuries. Blevins was charged with Operating Motor Vehicle Under the Influence of Alcohol/Drugs/Etc. 08 Aggravating Circumstances, 1st Offense, Possession of Open Alcohol Beverage Container in Motor Vehicle and four counts of Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree. Blevins was lodged in the Montgomery County Regional Jail. The collision remains under investigation by Trooper Brandon Burton.
