KSP Arrests Two Suspected in Lee County Murder

BEATTYVILLE, Ky. (August 15, 2016) - Personnel from the Kentucky State Police, Richmond and Hazard Posts apprehended two suspects alleged to be involved in the death of Billy Roark that occurred more than a week ago in Lee County.

Jay N. Shoemaker, 39 years old of Beattyville, and Raigan D. Griffin, 22 years old of Beattyville were located at residence off of Rock Lick Road in rural Breathitt County and taken into custody just after 6:30 pm today. Both Shoemaker and Griffin are lodged at the Three Forks Regional Detention Center, charged with Complicity to Commit Murder. Two additional individuals, Amy Turner, 31 years old of Beattyville, and Alysia Hensley, 33 years old of Beattyville were arrested and charged with Hindering Prosecution and are also lodged in the Three Forks Regional Detention Center.

The ongoing investigation is being conducted by KSP Detective Jesse Armstrong.

BEATTYVILLE, Ky. (August 10, 2016) - The Kentucky State Police, Richmond Post is requesting the public's help to find two additional people believed to be involved in the death of Billy Roark last week in Lee County. As a result of the ongoing investigation, KSP Post 7 is searching for Jay N. Shoemaker, 39 years old of Beattyville, and Raigan D. Griffin, 22 years old of Beattyville for their alleged involvement in the murder of Roark.

Anyone with information about the whereabouts of Shoemaker or Griffin are asked to contact local law enforcement or KSP Post 7 at 859-623-2404.

KSP Investigates Fatal Shootings in Lee County

BEATTYVILLE, Ky. (August 7, 2016) - The Kentucky State Police, Richmond Post has arrested four individuals after two deceased Lee County men were found just off of Hell Creek Road in Lee County.

The initial investigation indicates that Billy Roark, 27 years old of Beattyville, and James R. Brown, 36 years old of Beattyville, were fatally shot on Thursday night in two separate incidents. Billy Roark's body was found on Friday morning and the body of James Brown was found on Saturday night. They were both pronounced deceased at the scene by the Lee County Coroner.

As a result of the ongoing investigation, four people have been arrested and charged for their alleged involvement in the deaths of Roark and Brown. Wesley T. Johnson, 22 years old of Irvine and Kevin F. Kendall, 32 years old of Beattyville, have been arrested and charged with Complicity to Murder. Anthony T. Taylor, 34 years old of Beattyville and Kasandra K. White, 23 years old of Beattyville have been arrested and charged with Murder and Complicity to Murder.
