Interstate 71 Closed at 61 Mile Marker for Fatal Accident

Sparta Ky. (December 16, 2016) – The Kentucky State Police at Post 5 Campbellsburg is investigating a fatal traffic collision at the 61 mile marker on I-71 North in Gallatin County
At approximately 5:43pm Gallatin County Dispatch contacted Kentucky State Police in reference to a traffic collision on I-71 North. The collision involved a commercial vehicle and a passenger vehicle at the 61 mile marker. One person has been pronounced deceased by the Gallatin County Coroner.
The north bound lanes are closed at the 61 mile marker and a detour has been set up. Those traveling North on I-71 are being routed off at the 57 mile marker where they will take KY 35 to Warsaw then take KY 42 toward US 127 and then be routed back onto I-71 at the 62 mile marker.
The north bound lanes are closed for an indeterminate amount of time as the investigation continues.
