Death Investigation in Warren County

(Bowling Green, KY) - The Kentucky State Police Post 3 Bowling Green received a report of a single vehicle collision near the 4 mile marker on the William Natcher Parkway last night at approx. 10:52 pm. It was reported that a vehicle had overturned and the driver appeared to be under the influence and was being combative.
Kentucky State Police Sergeant Jeremy Smith, Trooper Briston Smith, and Warren County Deputy Sheriff Shane Montgomery arrived on the scene to find a 1995 Toyota 4-Runnerd overturned and on its drivers side in the northbound lanes of the William Natcher Parkway. Upon making contact with the operator, Michael Roll (52) of Bowling Green, he became extremely combative and it appeared to officers that he was highly under the influence. At this point a taser was used in an attempt to effect an arrest of Mr. Roll, where he still resisted for a short period before going unconscious.
The Medical Center EMS was on scene and tended to Mr. Roll and transported him to the Medical Center in Bowling Green. He was pronounced deceased at the Medical Center by the Warren County Coroner's Office. An autopsy will be performed later today at the Medical Examiner's Office in Louisville.
The investigation is still ongoing and being led by Lieutenant Derek Grant of Kentucky State Police Post 15 Columbia. No further details are available for release at this time.
