Update: Death Investigation in Livingston County

(Livingston County, KY.) - On the morning of March 16, 2016, an autopsy was performed on Melissa C. Hopkins at the Medical Examiner's Office in Louisville, KY. The autopsy revealed the cause of Hopkins' death was smoke inhalation. Kentucky State Police are awaiting the results of toxicology and other testing, at this time. The investigation continues by Detective Steve Silfies and Arson Investigator Michael Smith.

Death Investigation in Livingston County
Date of News Release: 03/15/2016
(Livingston County, KY.) - Kentucky State Police is currently working a death investigation resulting from a structure house fire at 730 Holland Road in Livingston County. At 8:28 p.m. this date Kentucky State Police were requested by Livingston County Sheriff's Office to assist in the investigation. Melissa C. Hopkins (18 years of age) was found inside the residence and was pronounced deceased at the scene by Livingston County Coroner Jeff Armstrong. The autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday in Louisville.
Kentucky State Police were assisted by Ledbetter Fire Department, Grand Lakes Fire Department, Burna Fire Department, Smithland Fire Department, Livingston EMS, Livingston County Coroner's Office, and Livingston County Sheriff's Office.
