Board Member Arrested for TBUT/Over$10K in Hancock County

(HENDERSON, KY) - On Friday, January 29, 2016, Kentucky State Police Detective Aaron Pryor charged 56 year-old Mark J. Wood of New Albany, IN with one (1) count of Theft by Unlawful Taking Over $10,000, which is a class C-Felony.
The investigation was initiated by the Kentucky State Police in October (2015) after allegations of missing funds were reported by the Lewisport Cemetery board. Wood, who was one of the five board members, was appointed treasurer. It is believed Wood has been unlawfully taking cemetery funds since 2009, totaling over $10,000.
KSP's Drug Enforcement/Special Investigations unit will perform a full audit in the coming months to determine the exact amount of funds missing.
The investigation was presented to the Hancock County Grand Jury on Tuesday, January 26, 2016, which issued the indictment warrant.
Wood is being held in the Breckinridge County Detention Center in Hardinsburg, KY on a $25,000 cash bond.
