Perry County Man Shot Outside of his Residence

Combs, KY. (August 19, 2016) - A Perry County man remains hospitalized after being shot in the face by an unknown individual early Friday morning. Troopers with Kentucky State Police Post 13 were dispatched to a residence on West KY 80, in the Combs community of Perry County, after dispatchers received a call advising that someone had been shot.

Upon arrival, officers located Melvin Shane Gross of Hazard, lying inside of his residence with what appeared to be a gunshot wound to the face. Investigators were advised that he had just stepped out of his residence when the shooting occurred. Shane Gross was transported to Pikeville Medical Center for treatment of his injuries. His condition is unknown at this time. Troopers searched the area but were unable to locate anyone involved in this incident, or who could provide additional information or assistance with the investigation.
