Anderson County Single Vehicle Fatal Collision

(Frankfort, KY) - Kentucky State Police are investigating a single vehicle collision in Anderson County that killed one occupant and hospitalized a second.

During the early morning hours of January 15, 2016, a 1999 white Ford Ranger pickup was traveling West on KY Hwy 44, Lawrenceburg, when it left the eastbound side of the roadway, became airborne over an embankment, landing in a wooded area.

One occupant, Justin G. Thurman, age 21, of Lawrenceburg, was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Anderson County Coroner's Office. Kristian Baxter, age 21, of Lawrenceburg is being treated for injuries at the University of Kentucky Hospital.

Preliminary investigation reveals alcohol may have been a factor in the collision.

Kentucky State Police were assisted at the scene by Anderson County Sheriff's Department, Lawrenceburg Police Department, Anderson County Fire, Anderson County EMS, and Anderson County Coroner's Office.

The investigation is continuing by the Kentucky State Police, Post 12 Frankfort.
