KSP Investigates Fatal ATV Accident

(Kimper, KY) - In the evening hours of Saturday April 18, 2015, Post 09 Pikeville received a call of a single vehicle ATV accident in the Kimper community of Pike County. KSP Troopers were dispatched, and responded to the accident. Information obtained at the scene indicates that Gary Thacker, 47 years old of Kimper, KY, was traveling on Callahan Branch, when the 2009 Honda ATV he was operating left the roadway, traveling over an embankment before overturning into a creek. Thacker was pronounced deceased at the scene by Pike County Coroner, Russell Roberts. Investigation at the scene determined that a helmet was not in use at the time of the accident.

The accident remains under investigation by Trooper Mark Branham. Trooper Branham was assisted at the scene by members of the Kimper Fire Department, and Trans Star Ambulance Service.
