KSP Investigates Injury Collision in Jessamine County

(Nicholasville, KY) - The Kentucky State Police, Richmond Post, is investigating a collision involving the Jessamine County Sheriff's Office that happened around 1:00 p.m. yesterday afternoon, on Keene South Elkhorn Rd. in Jessamine County.
The initial investigation has revealed that Deputy Carl Scott Nickell, 27 years old of Nicholasville, was driving a Ford Crown Victoria owned by the Jessamine County Sheriff's Office on Keene South Elkhorn Rd. The deputy observed a silver passenger car believed to be driven by an alleged burglary suspect, traveling the opposite direction, and turned around. Deputy Nickell lost control of his cruiser while attempting to catch up to the suspect vehicle, and collided with a 2000 Buick Le Sabre driven by John Ott, 70 years old of Nicholasville.
Deputy Nickell was transported by Ambulance to Saint Joseph Main in Fayette County with non-life threatening injuries.
The passenger in the Buick Le Sabre, Bessie Ott, 68 years old of Nicholasville, was taken to Saint Joseph of Nicholasville with non-life threatening injuries.
The ongoing investigation is being conducted by Trooper Albert Lagrange. He was assisted by KSP Personnel, Kentucky Vehicle Enforcement, Jessamine County EMS, and the Jessamine County Sheriff's Office.
