Ohio Man Injured After Fleeing Police

(Campbellsburg, KY) - A Cincinnati Ohio man was transported to the University of Cincinnati Hospital Sunday morning (4/5) after crashing his motorcycle while fleeing from Troopers from Kentucky State Police Post 5 Campbellsburg. While traveling north on I-71 in Henry County near the 36 mile marker, Trooper Barrett Brewer observed a vehicle approaching from behind at an extremely high rate of speed. Trooper Brewer conducted a traffic stop at the 39 mile marker. After stopping as directed, the violator rode off at a high rate of speed. Trooper Brewer initiated the pursuit and gave chase. The rider, Dewan Morris of Cincinnati Ohio, continued to flee from Trooper Brewer until exiting the interstate at exit 62 in Gallatin County. While exiting at a high rate of speed, Morris was unable to stop and was ejected from the motorcycle. Morris was charged with Fleeing or Evading a Police Officer, DUI 1st and several other traffic offenses. Morris&339; condition is unknown at this time.
The collision is being investigated by Accident Reconstructionist Trooper Jim Phelps. Trooper Bryan Lauck also responded to the pursuit.
