EDT, KSP Post 4 received a call from Breckinridge County dispatch of a domestic disturbance at 42 HWY 401 in Leitchfield, Ky. When a Trooper and Breckinridge County Deputy Sheriff arrived they were met by family members that stated that Nevin L. Shawver (32) was inside the residence with a handgun and was suicidal. The family members were escorted away from the residence and a perimeter was set up around the residence. KSP personnel at the scene attempted to make contact with Mr. Shawver for several hours with no success. KSP Special Response Team members were deployed and cleared the residence but the suspect had apparently fled the scene before Law Enforcement personnel initially arrived. Criminal Arrest warrants were subsequently obtained for the suspect for Wanton Endangerment 1st (2 counts), Criminal Mischief 1st and Menacing.

On Wednesday May 13, 2015 at approximately 8:40 A.M. EDT, Breckinridge County dispatch called and advised that the suspect, Nevin L. Shawver had returned to the residence and gotten into a vehicle with a friend. Trooper Jason Drane located the vehicle a short time later and was told by the driver he had dropped the suspect off at the boat docks in Axtell. He also stated that the suspect had a gun and was going to shoot himself. After searching the area Troopers made contact with Mr. Shawver at which time one shot was fired by the suspect. Breckinridge County EMS pronounced the suspect deceased from an apparent self inflicted gunshot wound. The case is still under investigation by KSP Post 4.
