Date of News Release: 10/07/2015

(Munfordville, KY) - The Kentucky State Police Post 3 Bowling Green responded to a report of an injury collision on Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at approx. 7:57 am in the 4700 block of Hardyville Road in Hart County where a vehicle had struck the rear of a garbage truck and a pedestrian was injured.

The preliminary investigation indicated that Norma Smith (76) of Bonnieville was operating a 1992 Buick and was traveling eastbound on Hardyville Road. A Hart County Jail inmate Danny Casey (30) of Munfordville was working at the rear of the truck and noticed the approaching vehicle and was able to jump on the hood of Smith's car to avoid being pinned between the vehicles in the collision.

Mr. Casey was transported by the Hart County EMS to Caverna Memorial Hospital for minor injuries he sustained in the collision.

The investigation is still ongoing and being led by Trooper First Class Jonathan McChesney. He was assisted on the scene by Trooper Ronnie Reynolds, Munfordville Police Department, and Hart County EMS.
