Injury Collision on Lonoke Road in Hart County

(Munfordville, KY) - The Kentucky State Police Post 3 Bowling Green received a report of an injury collision on Lonoke Road where a vehicle had struck a horse in the roadway.

The preliminary investigation indicated that on Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at approx. 10:09 pm a 1994 Ford Explorer was being operated by Abigail Rogers (18) of Munfordville when she swerved in an attempt to avoid hitting a horse that was standing in the middle of the northbound lane. Rogers was unable to avoid striking the horse where she then ran off the right shoulder of the roadway.

Rogers and a juvenile passenger were taken to Caverna Memorial Hospital for minor injuries. Another juvenile passenger was ejected in the collision and was flown to the University of Louisville Hospital by Kentucky Air Methods.

The investigation is still ongoing and being led by Trooper First Class Timmy Jewell. He was assisted on the scene by Trooper Daniel Priddy, Hart County Sheriff's Department, Munfordville Fire and Rescue, and the Hart County EMS.
