Traffic Safety Checkpoint on Louisville Road Leads to Foot Pursuit, Two Arrested

(Bowling Green, KY) - On Monday, August 24, 2015 at approx. 2:25 am the Kentucky State Police Post 3 Bowling Green was conducting a traffic safety checkpoint on Louisville Road at the intersection of Otter Gap Road when they made contact with a vehicle that turned on them and the driver exited the vehicle and fled on foot when approached.

The operator of a 2003 Chevrolet Blazer, Joey Cash (21) of Smiths Grove, fled from Troopers on foot but was apprehended after a short distance without incident. Through the investigation it was determined that Cash was in possession of a .22 caliber revolver, methamphetamine, and items used in ingesting meth. He also had a DUI suspended operators license and is a convicted felon. Cash was arrested and lodged in the Warren County Regional Jail and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance 1st Degree 1st Offense (Meth), Tampering With Physical Evidence, Fleeing or Evading Police 1st Degree (On Foot), Possession of a Handgun by a Convicted Felon, Driving DUI Suspended License 3rd Offense (Aggravating Circumstances), Failure of Non-Owner Operator to Maintain Required Insurance 1st Offense, Resisting Arrest, Drug Paraphernalia Possession, and Excessive Window Tinting.

The passenger in the vehicle, James Vincent (36) of Bowling Green, was also found to be in possession of items of paraphernalia containing methamphetamine. He was arrested and taken to be lodged in the Warren County Regional Jail, where he was found to have additional drugs concealed on his person. Vincent was lodged and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance 1st Degree 1st Offense (Meth), Drug Paraphernalia Possession, Trafficking in a Controlled Substance 1st Degree 1st Offense (Greater than 2 Grams Meth), Possession of a Controlled Substance 1st Degree 1st Offense (Drug Unspecified), Tampering With Physical Evidence, Promoting Contraband 1st Degree, Prescription Controlled Substance Not in Proper Container 1st Offense, Possession of a Controlled Substance 2nd Degree (Drug Unspecified), Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd Degree (Drug Unspecified), and Possession of Marijuana.

The investigation is still ongoing and being led by Trooper Daniel Priddy where he was assisted by Troopers Chris Newkirk and Harrison Wells.
