Hit & Run Collision Ends in Arrests and Recovery of Stolen Vehicle

(Smiths Grove, KY) - On Friday, May 1, 2015 at approx. 9:30 am Kentucky State Police Post 3 Bowling Green was contacted in reference to a non-injury collision at KY 101 at the intersection of Interstate 65.
When the Trooper arrived on scene it was discovered that the driver and passenger of a 2003 Buick Rendezvous had fled the scene on foot. With the information gathered by nearby business employees, Trooper Terry Alexander was able to locate Matthew Powell (20) of Lafayette, IN outside the McDonalds restaurant and Andrew Desenfants (20) of Lafayette, IN hiding in the underbrush behind the McDonalds. It was also discovered through investigation that the Buick they were in had been stolen in Lafayette, IN on April 30, 2015.
Desenfants was arrested and charged with Receiving Stolen Property U/$10,000 and Leaving the Scene of an Accident. Powell was arrested and charged with Tampering with Physical Evidence. Both were lodged in the Warren County Regional Jail.
The driver of the 2013 Ford pickup struck by Desenfants, Kenneth Jolly (51) of Greensburg, KY was uninjured.
The investigation is still ongoing and being led by Trooper Terry Alexander and was assisted by the Warren County Sheriff's Department.
