Escapee Arrested in Simpson County

(Franklin, KY) - On April 10, 2015 at approx 11:51 am the Kentucky State Police Post 3 Bowling Green was contacted by the Simpson County Detention Center in reference to an inmate that had walked away from a work detail at the City Maintenance Barn.
Troopers, along with Officers from the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement, Franklin Police Department, and Deputies from the Simpson County Sheriff's Department responded to the area and attempted to locate Jacob Cotton (24).
Numerous citizens in the area reported seeing a person fitting Cotton's description in the Ditmore Ford Road and Kinnard Road area. With this information a canvas of the area was conducted where Cotton was located a short time later on Chaney Road.
Cotton was taken into custody without incident at approx 12:46 pm and lodged in the Simpson County Detention Center where he was charged with Escape 2nd Degree. The investigation is being led by Trooper Terry Alexander.
