Injury Collision on I-65 at 65 MM Southbound

(Munfordville, KY) - On Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at approx. 10:57 am the Kentucky State Police Post 3 Bowling Green recieved a call of an injury collision involving a passenger car and a tractor trailer at the 65 mm Southbound on Interstate 65.

The preliminary investigation indicates that Richard Burks (83) of South Bend, IN, was traveling south on I-65 in the right lane when he changed lanes, striking the trailer of a semi, when his vehicle became lodged partially under the trailer for a short distance before coming loose and then striking the concrete barrier wall.

Burks had to be extricated from his vehicle and was transported to Hardin Memorial Hospital by Hart County EMS where he was treated and released. His passenger, Carol Fox (74), also of Sounth Bend, IN, along with the operator of the tractor trailer, Terry Brown (51) of Elcho, WI, were not injured in the collision.

The investigation is still ongoing and being led by Trooper First Class Ronnie Reynolds.
