Collision with Injuries on Ky 171

Weir, KY. (Muhlenberg County) - The Kentucky State Police investigated a single vehicle collision resulting in injuries.

On Monday August 31, 2015, at approximately 1:57 P.M., Trooper First Class Craig Engler investigated a single vehicle collision which resulted in injuries. Jerry Lanier, 25 of Greenville, was operating a 1997 Volvo dump truck loaded with asphalt northbound on Ky 171. Lanier's vehicle exited the right shoulder of the roadway and struck a ditch. Lanier was unable to regain control of his vehicle and it overturned onto its side in the middle of the roadway. Jerry Lanier was transported to the Muhlenberg Community Hospital by ambulance where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries. Lanier was wearing a seatbelt.

Trooper Engler was assisted on scene by Trooper First Class Jerry Knight, the Muhlenberg County Sheriff's Department, Greenville Fire Department, Muhlenberg County Emergency Management, Muhlenberg County EMS and the Ky Transportation Department.
