Date of News Release: 05/17/2015

Beech Creek, KY (Muhlenberg County) - The Kentucky State Police investigated a single vehicle collision on May 16, 2015 at 1:45 P.M. on Merle Travis Highway, approximately two miles west of Beechmont, Kentucky.

The preliminary investigation revealed that Shane Clinton, 20, of Dunmor was operating a 2006 Yamaha scooter west bound on Merle Travis Highway. Clinton stated that he was attempting to turn left into a church parking lot to get out of the heavy rain. When Clinton crossed the center line his front tire lost traction with the roadway causing him to lose control of his scooter. Clinton's scooter over-turned and came to final rest on the roadway.

Clinton was not wearing a helmet and was transported via ambulance to the Muhlenberg Community Hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the collision.

Trooper First Class Jerry Knight investigated the collision and was assisted at the scene by the Beechmont Volunteer Fire Department and Muhlenberg County EMS.
