Single Vehicle Injury Collision on US 62

St. Charles, KY (Hopkins County) - The Kentucky State Police investigated a single vehicle, injury collision that occurred on US 62, near Union Temple Road, on Friday, April 3, at 4:45 p.m.

The preliminary investigation revealed that Mark Todd, 28, St. Charles, was operating a Toyota Camry eastbound on US 62, near Union Temple Road, when he reached to retrieve an item that had fallen from his passenger side seat.

At this time, the passenger side tires dropped off the roadway. Mr. Todd was unable to correct and bring the vehicle back on the roadway. The vehicle entered a ditch and struck an earth embankment. It continued to travel eastbound and struck a large culvert before coming to rest in the ditch.

Mr. Todd, who was wearing a seatbelt, was transported via ambulance to Baptist Health Madisonville for treatment.

Trooper Jonathan Murphy investigated the collision. Sgt. Brain Duvall, the Dawson Springs Fire Department, and Medical Center Ambulance Service assisted at the scene.
