Single Vehicle Injury Collision On US 62

Nelson Creek, KY (Muhlenberg County) - The Kentucky State Police investigated a single-vehicle, injury collision that occurred on US 62, approximately one mile west of Nelson Creek, on Friday, January 23, at 11:50 a.m.

The preliminary investigation revealed that Teresa Joines, 47, of Central City, was operating a 2009 Toyota Tacoma westbound on US 62 when the vehicle lost traction on the wet roadway. It crossed into the eastbound lane and exited the left shoulder of the roadway. The vehicle struck a tree before coming to rest off the roadway.

Ms. Joines, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was transported via a privately-owned vehicle to the Muhlenberg Community Hospital for treatment. There were no passengers involved.

Trooper First Class Jerry Knight investigated the collision. Trooper First Class Jerrod Hearld, the Nelson Creek Volunteer Fire Department, the Central City Fire Department, and Muhlenberg County EMS assisted at the scene.
