Tennessee Man Arrested after a Pursuit

(Eddyville, KY) - Troopers Eric Chrisman and Gerick Sullivan along with Eddyville Police Department and Lyon County Sheriff's Office were conducting a traffic safety checkpoint at KY-93 South and KY 293, near Eddyville, KY.
A vehicle drove through the checkpoint without stopping, almost striking Trooper Chrisman before accelerating at a high rate of speed traveling north on KY-93. The units caught up to and pursued the vehicle west on US-62, and then ramped onto I-24 east at the 40 mile marker. The vehicle maintained a speed of just over 100 mph.
Coordinating with Kentucky State Police Post-2 Madisonville they were able to have two troopers at the 75 mile marker in Christian County with tire deflation devices at the ready. When the suspect vehicle came close to the Post-2 troopers the suspect driver turned his headlights off and took to the shoulder missing a majority of the spikes before continuing east on I-24. The units were able to catch up to the suspect and conduct a rolling road block, slowing the suspect vehicle to a safe speed.
The suspect was apprehended without further incident at the 85 mile marker. The suspect was identified as Victor H. Bonillna from Springfield, TN. He was charged with Fleeing/Evading Police - 1st Degree (motor vehicle), Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree (multiple counts), Criminal Mischief (4 counts), Reckless Driving, Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol-1st Degree (aggravated circumstance), and other traffic violations. He was lodged in the Caldwell County Jail.
The pursuit went through a total of four counties, Lyon, Caldwell, Trigg, and Christian for approximately 50 miles total distance with a top speed of 105 mph.
Kentucky State Police from the Mayfield & Madisonville Posts were assisted by the Lyon County Sheriff's Office, Eddyville Police Department, Trigg County Sheriff's Office, and Christian County Sheriff's Office.
