Train Accident in Carlisle County

(Carlisle County) - At approximately 7:40 AM, Kentucky State Police received a call in reference to a train which had struck a vehicle on the tracks at County Road 1305 just off US Highway 51 North. Upon arrival, the investigation showed a CN train was traveling northbound on the tracks, and a semi tractor and trailer was traveling east on County Road 1305. The driver stated he looked both ways before crossing the tracks, but the sun was in his eyes. As he was crossing the tracks he then saw the train and sped up to try to get off the tracks. The snow plow affixed to the front of the train clipped the rear end of the semi trailer causing minor damage. There were no signals at the crossing, only crossbuck signs. The train was an approximate 100 car, coal hauler. There were no injuries to any involved party, and the train did not derail.
