Single Vehicle Collision with Injuries

Henderson, KY - On March 7, 2015 at approximately 9:34 PM Kentucky State Police responded to a single vehicle accident with injuries on South Green Street in the city limits of Henderson, KY. The Henderson Police Department was responding to an emergency service call for shots fired at the time the accident occurred. The Henderson Police Department's responding officer, identified as Jacob Klotzback of Henderson, was traveling northbound on Green Street with his emergency equipment activated in a 2004 Ford Crown Victoria with a second police vehicle following him. A vehicle turned left on South Green from 8th Street into the path of Officer Klotzback's patrol vehicle. Officer Klotzback in order to pass the other vehicle moved into the right hand lane. The operator of that vehicle observed the second patrol vehicle behind her and moved into the right hand lane in front of Officer Klotzback. In order to avoid the collision with the vehicle Officer Klotzback steered into the shoulder of the roadway striking a utility pole and fire hydrant at the intersection of South Green Street at Ray Street. Officer Klotzback was successful in avoiding the collision with the other driver preventing further injury. Officer Klotzback was transported by Henderson EMS to Methodist ER where he is being treated for non-life threatening injuries. Kentucky State Police were assisted on scene by the Henderson Police Department, Henderson Fire Department, Henderson EMS, Henderson County Sheriff's Department, Henderson Water Department, and Henderson City Power and Light.
