Clinton County Couple Charged with Drug Offenses

(Albany, KY) - 30-year-old Matthew Shelton and his wife, 30-year-old Maria Shelton, of Albany, were arrested on Tuesday, November 17th as a result of an investigation that was initiated by an anonymous tip. Matthew Shelton was charged with Trafficking in a Controlled Substance 1st Degree; 1st offense; (Meth), Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Maria Shelton was charged with Trafficking in a Controlled Substance 1st Degree; 1st offense; (Meth).
68 grams of Methamphetamine (est. street value of $8700.00), 19 syringes, marijuana seed, scales and other miscellaneous items were recovered in a search of the couples residence and property on Groce Gibson Road, 7 miles north of Albany. Tpr. Jason Warinner is investigating and was assisted by Matt Aaron of Probation & Parole and Clinton County Sheriff Jim Guffey.
The Shelton's were arrested at approximately 3:33 PM CST and were lodged in the Clinton County Jail. The investigation is ongoing.
