Letcher County Man Shot During Burglary

(Dry Fork, KY) - A Whitesburg man has been arrested after an altercation resulted in his being shot late Tuesday evening. Kentucky State Police charged 39 year old Jimmy "J. B." Adams with one count of Burglary 2nd Degree, after responding to a complaint at a residence on Ridgeview Drive in the Dry Fork community of Letcher County. Daniel Ison had called KSP Post 13 at approximately 9:10 p.m., advising that J. B. Adams had showed up at the residence he was staying at, beating on doors and windows, and harassing a female acquaintance.
When Tpr. Michael Burton arrived on the scene, he discovered J. B. Adams inside the residence along with Daniel Ison and a female. J. B. Adams had suffered gunshot wounds to his right shoulder. Tpr. Burton was advised that J. B. Adams had entered the residence, and was confronted by Daniel Ison, who shot Adams twice then held him until officers arrived. J. B. Adams was transported to Whitesburg Appalachian Regional Hospital, then Pikeville Medical Center for treatment of his injury. He was later released, at which time he was taken to the Letcher County Detention Center and lodged. This incident remains under investigation by Tpr. Burton.
