Murder Charge Filed in Perry County Fatal Collision

(Hazard, KY) - A murder charge was filed against a Perry County man in relation to the January 24th collision that claimed the life of a nine year old. Trooper Brandon Thomas, who is leading the investigation of this collision, conferred with Perry County Commonwealth Attorney John Hanson concerning the proper handling of this incident. The decision was made to charge Jason Combs with one count of Murder, for the death of the child. An arrest warrant was obtained and served on Jason Combs on Thursday afternoon. He remains lodged in the Kentucky River Regional Jail, where he still faces charges of Driving Under the Influence, Assault 1st Degree, and 1st Degree Wanton Endangerment.
On Saturday, January 24th, investigators determined that Jason Combs was driving a pickup truck on Combs Road, near Airport Gardens, when the vehicle collided head-on with a Chrysler Sebring, injuring the driver and a child passenger. The child died two days later at the University of Kentucky Medical Center, due to injuries sustained in the collision.
