ATV Overturn Claims Life of Isom Man

(Isom, KY) - An Isom man has died after the ATV he was riding overturned, trapping him beneath it. Kentucky State Police Post 13 in Hazard received a call at approximately 6:30 p.m., Sunday evening, advising of the incident. Troopers responded to the scene on Daniels Branch Road, in the Isom community of Letcher County. They were assisted by Letcher County Sheriff's Office, Letcher County Ambulance, and Pine Mountain Search and Rescue.
At the scene, investigators spoke with a family member who advised he had been out looking for Calvin Baker after not having contact with him on Sunday.
He was able to locate the ATV and Calvin Baker, a short distance from Mr. Baker's residence. It appeared that Calvin Baker was traveling on a logging road when the ATV overturned, pinning him underneath and preventing him from freeing himself.
Letcher County Coroner Marty Baker pronounced Calvin Baker deceased at the scene. Calvin Baker, who was 76 years old, was a resident of Isom. No autopsy will be performed, and the incident remains under investigation by Tpr. Scott Caudill with KSP Post 13.
