KSP Investigates Injury Accident On I-64 In Franklin County

(Frankfort, KY.) - On July 30, 2015 at approximately 5:50 A.M., Kentucky State Police Post 12, Frankfort received a report of an injury accident at the 58 mile marker, Interstate 64 westbound in Frankfort.
A 2007 Freightliner tractor trailer, being driven by James Madrigal, age 36, of Brownsville, TX was traveling westbound on I-64 near exit 58 when a box truck, driven by a London, KY man drove into the rear of the tractor trailer.
The driver of the box truck was airlifted from the scene by Air Methods and transported to the University of Kentucky Medical Center where he is listed in critical but stable condition. The driver of the tractor trailer was not injured.
No charges are pending at this time.
Kentucky State Police were assisted at the scene by Franklin County Sheriff's Office, Commercial Vehicle Enforcement, Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, Franklin County Fire, EMS, Frankfort Emergency Management, and Air Methods.
The investigation is continuing by Kentucky State Police Post 12 Reconstruction Team.
