Kentucky State Police Investigate Vehicle Fatality

(Shelbyville, KY.) - Kentucky State Police Post 12, Frankfort, is investigating a single vehicle fatality which occurred on I 64 W at the 27 mile marker, Shelby County.
Preliminary reports indicate a single vehicle was traveling westbound on I 64. When it veered off the roadway, down an embankment, and struck a large tree.
Three of the four occupants were transported to the hospital with significant injuries. The driver of the vehicle was taken to the University of Louisville Hospital, and the juvenile passengers were taken to Kosair Children's Hospital for treatment.
The fourth individual was pronounced deceased at the scene. The names of the individuals involved are currently being withheld until next of kin can be notified.
Kentucky State Police was assisted on the scene by Simpsonville Fire, Simpsonville Police, Shelbyville EMS, Shelbyville Police, Shelby County Sheriff, Shelby County Coroner's Office, and Kentucky Department of Transportation. The KSP Accident Reconstruction team is working the accident. The investigation is ongoing at this time.
