Fugitive Arrest / Laurel County

(LONDON, KY.) - On Saturday, January 11, 2015 at approximately 12:30 PM, Kentucky State Police Post 11, London was notified by the Laurel County Sheriff's Office that several deputies had gotten in a pursuit in southern Laurel County of a suspect that was wanted in Laurel and surrounding counties for several Burglaries, Robberies and Thefts.
The suspect identified as Joshua W. Smith, 34, of London was operating a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado that had been stolen from Yadens Auto Sales in London on December 28, 2014. Smith was also known to be armed and had made threats toward law enforcement. Smith successfully managed to evade police in the stolen truck.
Several hours later KSP Post 11, received information that Smith was at a Hotel in Lexington. Troopers from Post 11, Post 12 along with officers from the Lexington Police Department arrived at the Hotel and arrested Smith without incident. He was transported back to Laurel County where he was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
The arrest was made by Trooper Jack Riley, the investigation is continuing and he was assisted by troopers from Post 12 Frankfort, Lexington Police Department and London Police Department.
