Escaped Inmate Turns Himself In

(Morehead, KY) - On Thursday March 20, 2014 at 10:11 pm. Kentucky State Police was notified by Johnson County dispatch center in Paintsville, Kentucky that Melvin Scott Garland, 29, of Royalton, Kentucky had turned himself in at Big Sandy Regional Detention Center. Mr. Garland was lodged in Big Sandy Regional Detention Center for Escape 2nd degree.

Escaped Inmate from the Three Forks Detention Center

Date of News Release: 03/20/2014

(Morehead, KY) - On March 20, 2014 Kentucky State Police Post 8 was notified that Three Forks Detention Center inmate, 29 year old Melvin Scott Garland (6' Weight 175, brown hair, green eyes), escaped custody while on a work release detail at the Wolfe County Highway Garage in Campton, KY, at approximately 8:30 a.m. It is suspected that Mr. Garland was picked up by a private vehicle and may be headed to Magoffin County. Trooper Bret Kirkland is investigating the incident and a warrant has been obtained for Escape 2nd Degree. Please contact Kentucky State Police Post 8 at 606-784-4127 with any information to assist in locating the escaped inmate.
