Date of News Release: 12/01/2014
(Berea, KY) -- The Kentucky State Police, Richmond Post is investigating a fatal collision that occurred just after 4:00 p.m. this afternoon, on US 25 South in Madison County.
The initial investigation indicates that Richard A. Tillery, 18 years old of Berea, was driving south on US 25 in a 1997 BMW passenger car, near the Rockcastle County line. Tillery lost control of his vehicle and crossed the oncoming lane of traffic, before leaving the left side of the road and colliding with a tree. Tillery was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Madison County Coroner. It does not appear that he was wearing his seatbelt and speed appears to be a factor in the collision.
The ongoing investigation is being conducted by Trooper Charles Brandenburg. He was assisted at the scene by KSP Personnel, Rockcastle County EMS, Madison County EMS, Rockcastle County Fire and Rescue, and the Madison County Coroner.
