KSP Investigates Shooting in Owsley County

(Booneville, KY) - The Kentucky State Police, Richmond Post is currently investigating an assault in Owsley County, which sent two people to the hospital.

The incident occurred at approximately 3:00 pm this afternoon (July 24, 2014) at the residence of 2119 KY-HWY 708. The initial investigation alleges that Joshua Hensley, 28 years old of Booneville, KY assaulted his wife, Andrea Hensley, with a knife during a physical altercation. Jason Reed of Booneville, attempted to assist Andrea leave the residence, at which point he was allegedly shot in the back by Joshua Hensley.

Andrea Hensley was transported to the Kentucky River Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. Jason Reed was transported to the UK Medical Center, the extent of his injuries are currently unknown.

Joshua Hensley was arrested and charged with two counts of Assault 1st Degree, four counts of Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree, and Criminal Trespassing 1st Degree. He has been lodged at the Three Forks Regional Jail.

The ongoing investigation is being investigated by KSP Detective Rob Morris. He was assisted at the scene by KSP Personnel, the Booneville Police Department, Owsley County Sheriff's Department, and Allen’s Ambulance Service.
