KSP Investigates Fatal Motorcycle Collision in Owsley County

(Booneville, KY) - The Kentucky State Police, Richmond Post is investigating a fatal collision that occurred on Tuesday, May 20, 2014, just after 6:00 pm EDT, in rural Owsley County. The collision occurred near the intersection of Venable School Road, approximately 6 miles west of Booneville on Highway 30.
Initial investigation has revealed that a black 2001 Harley Davidson motorcycle, operated by Matthew J. Lane, 53 years old of Groveport, OH, was traveling east on Highway 30. The driver lost control of the motorcycle while navigating a curve, colliding head-on with a commercial vehicle that was traveling west. Matthew Lane was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Owsley County Coroner. Pamela Lane, 52 years old of Groveport, OH, was a passenger on the motorcycle. She was airlifted to the University of Kentucky Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.
Trooper Bobby Edwards is the investigating officer. He was assisted at the scene by KSP personnel, the Owsley County Sheriff's Department, Owsley County EMS, Owsley County Fire & Rescue, and the Owsley County Coroner.
