KSP Investigates School Bus Injury Collision in Lincoln County

(Stanford, KY) - The Kentucky State Police, Richmond Post is investigating a collision involving a Lincoln County School Bus that happened just before 8:00 am this morning in Lincoln County. The collision occurred on Kentucky Highway 78 near the intersection of Thornhill Lane, approximately 4 miles west of Stanford.
The initial investigation has revealed that the Lincoln County School Bus was traveling east on KY-78 toward Stanford. The driver of the bus, Judy Asbery, 44 years old of Hustonville, swerved into the oncoming lane of traffic in an attempt to avoid colliding into the back of another bus that was stopped in traffic. William Otis Coleman, 36 years old of Stanford, was driving a 2005 GMC Sierra traveling west on KY-78 and was struck head on by the bus. Coleman was transported to UK Hospital with life threatening injuries. There were 48 children on the bus at the time of the collision. The driver and 28 children from the bus were transported to local hospitals for nonlife threatening injuries.
The ongoing investigation is being conducted by KSP Trooper Jeff Stith. He was assisted at the scene by KSP Post 7 personnel, the Lincoln County Sheriff's Department, Lincoln County Fire Department, Lincoln County EMS, Casey County EMS, and Garrard County EMS.
