KSP Makes Arrest in Lee County Murder

(Beattyville, KY) - The Kentucky State Police make an arrest in the case that took the life of Martha Belle Hollar on April 11, 2014 in her Lee County residence. Preliminary investigation has indicated that Hollar was fatally shot prior to her residence catching on fire.

Melvin G. Slone, 55 years old of Beattyville, was arrested today at 7:03 pm EDT, following the investigation. Slone has been charged with Murder and is lodged at the Three Fork's Regional Jail. Murder in the State of Kentucky is a capital offense, punishable by 20 years or more in prison if convicted.

The ongoing investigation is being conducted by KSP Detective Jesse Armstrong.

UPDATE: KSP Investigates Fatal Fire in Lee County

(Beattyville, KY) - The Kentucky State Police, Post 7 in Richmond is continuing to investigate the fire that occurred on Friday, April 11, 2014 at 178 Main St. in Beattyville, Ky.

An Autopsy was performed on Saturday, April 12, 2014 at the State Medical Examiner's Office in Frankfort. The autopsy concluded that Martha Belle Hollar, 79 years old of Beattyville, was deceased prior to her residence catching on fire.

Investigators with KSP are now investigating the fire and death as a murder.

The murder investigation is being conducted by KSP Detective Jesse Armstrong and Arson Investigator Pat Alford.

KSP Investigates Fatal Fire in Lee County

(Beattyville, KY) - The Kentucky State Police, Richmond Post is currently investigating a fatal fire that occurred on Main St. in Lee County.

On Friday, April 11, 2014 at 9:32 pm EDT, KSP was requested to investigate the residential fire at 178 Main St. in Beattyville. KSP Troopers and members from the Lee County Fire Department searched the residence after the fire was extinguished and located a body deceased in the remains.

The homeowner, Martha Belle Hollar, 79 years old of Beattyville, was pronounced deceased by the Lee County Coroner.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation. The investigation is continuing by Tpr. Tyrus Robinson and Arson Investigator Pat Alford. KSP was assisted on scene by the Beattyville PD, Lee County Sheriff's Department, Lee County Fire Department, Lee County EMS, Beattyville Fire Department, Bear Track Volunteer Fire Department, Primrose Volunteer Fire Department, Tri Community Volunteer Fire Department, Lee County Coroner and the State Fire Marshall.
