Collision On WKP Blocks Road For Several Hours

Date of News Release: 11/13/2014

Graham, KY (Muhlenberg County) - The Kentucky State Police investigated a non-injury collision that occurred on the Western Kentucky Parkway, at approximately the 46 mile-marker, on Wednesday, November 12, 2014, at 9:36 p.m.

The preliminary investigation revealed that Timothy Tackett, 50, of Ashland, KY, was operating a 1999 Freightliner tractor-trailer westbound on the Western Kentucky Parkway. He was hauling canned goods. While driving, he glanced away from the roadway for a moment. In doing so, the tractor-trailer veered into the emergency lane where it struck a parked, unoccupied 2004 GMC Denali.

The tractor-trailer overturned and spilled its load blocking all west and east bound lanes of the parkway. All four lanes were cleared at approximately 4:30 a.m.

Mr. Tackett was wearing a seatbelt. No injuries were reported.

Trooper Jacob Fortney investigated the collision. Sergeant Brian Duvall, Trooper Jeff McWhorter, the Graham Volunteer Fire Department, the Central City Fire Department, Muhlenberg County EMS, and Muhlenberg County Emergency Management assisted at the scene.
