Fatal Collision Involving Motorcycle On KY 181

Elkton, KY (Todd County) - The Kentucky State Police is investigating a single-vehicle, fatality collision that occurred on KY 181, approximately two miles south of Elkton, on Thursday, October 2, 2014, at 11:55 a.m.

The preliminary investigation revealed that James R. Propes Jr., 66, of Greenville, was operating a 2006 Harley Davidson 1200 Sportster northbound on KY 181. As he was approaching a curve in the roadway, his motorcycle exited the right shoulder. It struck a culvert and became airborne causing Mr. Propes to be ejected.

The Todd County Coroner, Bob Whittlesey, pronounced Mr. Propes dead at the scene. He was not wearing a helmet.

Trooper Michael Dennis is investigating the collision. Sergeant Tim Sales, the Todd County Sheriff's Department, Todd County EMS, and the Todd County Coroner's Office assisted at the scene.
