Two Vehicle Injury Collision On Pennyrile Parkway

Hopkinsville, KY (Christian County) - The Kentucky State Police investigated a two-vehicle, injury collision that occurred on the Edward T. Breathitt Pennyrile Parkway, at approximately the eleven mile-marker, on Tuesday, September 16, 2014, at 8:08 a.m.

The preliminary investigation revealed that William Bartlett II, 36, of Greenville, KY, was operating a 2008 Ford F150. Samantha Basham, 37, of Hopkinsville, KY, was operating a 2003 Dodge Stratus. She was traveling behind Mr. Bartlett's vehicle.

As Mr. Bartlett was attempting to merge onto the parkway northbound from KY 1682, he had to stop for traffic. Ms. Basham was unable to stop and her vehicle rear-ended Mr. Bartlett's vehicle.

Mr. Bartlett and Ms. Basham were not injured. A passenger in Ms. Basham's vehicle, Nicole Hanley, 44, of Hopkinsville, was transported via ambulance to the Jennie Stuart Medical Center for treatment. Ms. Basham's other two passengers, Brian Douglas, 18, of Hopkinsville, and Cody Brooks, 24, of Hopkinsville, were not injured.

All occupants were wearing seatbelts.

Trooper Michael Dennis investigated the collision. Trooper Luis Palmer, the Hopkinsville Fire Department, and Hopkinsville/Christian County EMS assisted at the scene.
