Update To Death Investigation In Muhlenberg County

Central City, KY. (Muhlenberg County) - Brenda Hardin was released from the Muhlenberg Community Hospital on Saturday, July 12, 2014. She was lodged in the Muhlenberg County Detention Center at approximately 9:41 a.m., Saturday, July 12, 2014.

Update To Death Investigation In Muhlenberg County

Date of News Release: 07/08/2014

Central City, KY. (Muhlenberg County) -The Kentucky State Police is currently investigating the death of a Central City man.

An autopsy was conducted this morning at the State Medical Examiner's Office in Madisonville. The preliminary results indicate that the victim died from a single, gunshot wound.

Through the course of the investigation, KSP Detective Lonnie Kavanaugh was able to obtain an arrest warrant for the victim':s ex-wife, Brenda M. Hardin, 61, of Central City, KY. She has been charged with:

  1. Murder-Domestic Violence (Class A Felony)
  2. Tampering with Physical Evidence (Class D Felony)

She is currently in the ICU at the Muhlenberg Community Hospital due to taking multiple, prescription medications.

On Monday, July 7, 2014, at approximately 7:38 p.m., the KSP Post 2 Madisonville was contacted by Muhlenberg County Central Dispatch in reference to a deceased subject located at a residence on West Whitmer Street.

Upon arrival, officers discovered the victim in a building next to the residence. The victim, Ronnie E. Hardin, 64, of Central City, KY, was pronounced dead at the scene by Muhlenberg County Deputy Coroner Ricky King.

The investigation is continuing by KSP Detective Lonnie Kavanaugh. KSP Post 2 units, the Central City Police Department, the Muhlenberg County Sheriff':s Department, and the Muhlenberg County Coroner':s Office assisted at the scene.
