Drug Arrest in Hopkins County

St. Charles, KY (Hopkins County) - On May 17, 2014 the Kentucky State Police conducted a pre-approved traffic safety check point on KY 112. During the detail, a white vehicle made an improper turn down a dead in road, attempting to avoid the traffic safety check point. After the vehicle was located, Troopers began a D.U.I. investigation on the operator, Eric Puckett, 30 of Dixon, Ky. While conducting field sobriety tests, Troopers observed that Mr. Puckett was attempting to conceal something in his mouth. Through investigation, it was determined Mr. Puckett attempted to swallow suspected methamphetamine. The evidence was recovered, along with marijuana from the vehicle.
Trooper Jonathan Murphy charged the following individual:
Eric M. Puckett
- Failure to or Improper Turn Signal
- No Registration Plates
- No Registration Receipt
- Failure of non-Owner Operator to Maintain Required Insurance 1st Offense
- Possession of Marijuana
- Tampering with Physical Evidence
- Possession of a Controlled Substance 1st Degree, 1st Offense (Methamphetamine)
Mr. Puckett was lodged in Hopkins County Detention Center. Trooper Murphy was assisted at the scene by Troopers Joseph Bartolotti and Cody Kromer.
