Subjects Flee from KSP Traffic Stop
Date of News Release: 03/01/2014
(Hickory, KY.) - At 1347 hours on Friday, February 28th, Trooper Michael Robichaud observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed while westbound on KY 272 near Hardy Road in Trigg County. Tpr. Robichaud attempted to make a traffic stop, when the vehicle made an abrupt stop in a gravel parking lot near 5198 Highway 272 (Caledonia Road). Eltwyqwan Vinson, and one other unknown black male, exited the vehicle and fled toward a nearby residence. Mr. Vinson stopped after being given verbal commands to do so by Trooper Robichaud; however, the unidentified second male did not, and continued to flee. A 17 year old female remained in the vehicle and was also detained. Mr. Vinson was found to be in possession of a concealed .380 pistol. A search of a nearby home and wooded area did not reveal the unidentified fleeing suspect.
Hopkinsville Police Department responded with a canine and a track was initiated. Units were unable to locate the suspect, and the track/search was terminated. The 17 year old female juvenile was released to her parent/guardian. Mr. Vinson was arrested and lodged in the Christian County Jail on the charge of Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon. The investigation is continuing by Tpr. Robichaud.
Hopkinsville Police and the Trigg County Sheriff's Department assisted KSP at the scene.
