Officer Involved Shooting in Marion County

Date of News Release: 05/16/2014

(Lebanon, KY.) When responding units arrived at the scene this morning (05/16/2014), they were attempting to establish a perimeter around the residence. While attempting to make verbal contact with Livers, CVE Officer Jason Morris saw Livers brandish a long gun and point it at the officers. Officer Morris fired his weapon, striking Livers and incapacitating him. First aid was given at the scene until EMS arrived. Commercial Vehicle Officer Jason Morris is an 11-year law enforcement veteran, 7 years with the agency.

(Lebanon, KY.) 38-year-old Joey Livers of Lebanon, was transported from his residence to Springview Hospital this morning, following the shooting and was pronounced dead at 10:29 PM EDT. The investigation continues.

Officer Involved Shooting in Marion County

Date of News Release: 05/16/2014

(Lebanon, KY.) The Kentucky State Police is investigating an officer involved shooting that occurred on May 16th, 2014 at approximately 9:38 AM EDT at a residence in the 8000 block of St. Joe Road in Marion County. Post 15 received a call from the Marion County Sheriff's office at approximately 9:09 AM EDT in reference to a suicidal subject. Units arrived on the scene at approximately 9:32 AM EDT and reported shots were fired at approximately 9:38 AM EDT. 1 subject was transported from the residence to Springview Hospital. No officers were injured. The investigation is ongoing at this time.
