Two Perry County Convenience Stores Robbed in Perry County

(Hazard, KY) - On Monday, January 20, 2014, at approximately 10:05 p.m., Kentucky State Police Post 13, in Hazard, received a call from the Vicco Kwik Mart, in the Vicco community of Perry County, advising that the store had been robbed. Officers with KSP and Perry County Sheriff's Department responded to the scene, and were advised that a male subject had entered the store wearing a blue coat, khaki pants, with a red bandanna over his face, while brandishing a handgun. The subject demanded money from the register, and then fled the store on foot. Officers conducted a search of the area, but were unable to locate the suspect. The perpetrator took approximately $284.00 in cash from the register, and no one was injured during this incident.

In an apparent unrelated incident, KSP Post 13 received a call from Ramey's BP, in the Cornettsville community of Perry County, at approximately 11:38 p.m., advising that a male subject had attempted to rob that store. The caller advised that a white male had entered the Kwik Mart, with a handgun, demanding cash. The clerk showed the subject that there was little cash in the register, at which time the perpetrator took approximately $20.00 from the clerk. The subject fled the store on foot, where he got into a car of an unknown make, and left the area. The clerk was not injured, and nothing was taken from the store. The robber is described as a white male, approximately six feet tall, wearing a navy blue jacket, jeans, and a white mask. Both cases remain under investigation by KSP Post 13.
