Kentucky State Police Pursuit of Vehicle Ends In Arrest

(Frankfort, KY) - – On Saturday, December 20th , 2014, Trooper Keith Armstrong joined in a pursuit to assist Shelbyville Police Department. Terry West had fled from the scene of a robbery and domestic violence assault in a 1990 Ford truck. As the pursuit crossed from Shelby County into Anderson County Trooper Armstrong became the primary pursuit unit. Additional Kentucky State Police Troopers, Trooper Kinnman, Trooper Welch joined the pursuit as the vehicle exited from I 64 onto HWY 151.The pursuit then lead onto HWY 512, HWY 395, HWY 44. Prior to the city limits of Lawrenceburg, Trooper Jeff Gaby was able to successfully deploy tire deflation measures against the perpetrator. The subject (West) was then stopped using a pit maneuver by Trooper Armstrong. The subject (West) then exited the vehicle and began to flee on foot. Trooper Armstrong deployed his taser, which was not effective. At this point additional officers arrived, West continuted to be combative, until another taser was deployed which was effective in effecting an arrest of West.
The driver of the vehicle, Terry West, age 25, of Shelbyville Kentucky, was arrested and charged with Wanton Endangerment 1st, DUI 1st , Reckless Driving, Fleeing or Evading Police 1st Degree (Motor Vehicle), Improper Passing, Resisting Arrest and Speeding. Additional charges are pending from other agencies.
Kentucky State Police was assisted by, Shelbyville Police Department, Shelbyville Sheriff’s Office, and Anderson County EMS.
