Drug Arrest in Knox County

(Bailey Switch, Ky.) – On December 15, 2014 at 12: 27 a.m. Trooper Jason Partin from Post 10 Harlan conducted a traffic stop on a Black 2014 Dodge Charger on U.S.25E in the Bailey Switch community of Knox County for speeding. Tpr. Partin made contact with the operator of the vehicle, Jon Paul Ericson of Bean Station, Tn and the passenger Rhonda Davis from Rutledge, Tn. Tpr. Partin smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside of the vehicle and began an investigation.
Post 10 Harlan sent KSP Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Canine Officer Landry Collet to assist with the traffic stop. Trooper Kelly Farris and Knox County Deputy Drew Wilson also arrived to assist with the traffic stop.
Troopers began a search of the vehicle and located over a pound of marijuana that was wrapped in plastic underneath the spare tire of the trunk. Drug paraphernalia items along with $600.00 in cash were also seized from the vehicle.
Jon Paul Ericson, 35, of Bean Station, Tn. was arrested and charged with the Following:
- Speeding 16 mph over limit
- DUI 1st offense
- Careless Driving
- Possession of Marijuana
- Trafficking in Marijuana ( 8oz to 5 lbs) 1st offense
Ronda S. Davis, 35, of Rutledge, Tn was also arrested and charged with Public Intoxication.
Both were lodged in the Knox County Detention Center. Case is still under investigation by Tpr. Jason Partin.
