Harlan County Man Arrested on Drug Charges

(Bledsoe, Ky.) - On October 26, 2014 at 9:03 p.m. Kentucky State Police, Post 10's Criminal Interdiction Team, conducted a consent to search at a residence in the Bledsoe community of Harlan County. Upon searching the residence, troopers located $15,487.75 dollars in U.S. currency, 1 oz of marijuana, 8 firearms, 604 hydrocodone tablets, 201 oxycodone tablets, 412 methadone pills, 239 suboxones, 474 various other prescription pills were recovered for a total of 1930 prescription pills for a street value of $30,805.00. One of the firearms located at the residence was stolen.
The owner of the residence, Donald Ray Howard, 71, of Bledsoe was charged with trafficking controlled substance 1st degree 1st offense, trafficking controlled substance 2nd degree 1st offense, trafficking marijuana less than 8 ounces, tampering with physical evidence, possession of firearm by convicted felon, receiving stolen property (firearm) and possession of drug paraphernalia. Mr. Howard was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center. The investigation is being conducted by Tpr. Brandon Burton.
Also assisted with the search was Tpr. Joey Brigmon, Tpr. Jason Partin, TFC. Dallas Eubanks, and canine Rex.
