Bell County Drug Arrest

(Middlesboro, Ky.) - On September 28, 2014 Kentucky State Police, Post 10 Criminal Interdiction Team was conducting a traffic safety check point on US 25E near the Cumberland Gap Tunnel in the Middlesboro community of Bell County. While conducting the traffic safety check point, Michael Lyons Jr, 19, of Johnson City, TN entered the check point and troopers smelled an odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. TFC. Dallas Eubanks deployed his canine dog (Rex) and conducted a search which gave several positive alerts on the vehicle. Troopers then searched the vehicle and located approximately three pounds of marijuana, hash oil, and drug paraphernalia. Approximately five hundred and seven dollars in cash was seized from Mr. Lyons as well as his 2000 Chevrolet Impala.
Mr. Lyons was arrested and charged with trafficking in marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and lodged in the Bell County Detention Center. Trooper Joey Brigmon is continuing the investigation. Trooper Jason Partin, Tpr. Brandon Burton, TFC. Dallas Eubanks and canine Rex assisted with the traffic stop.
